But what truly makes the XPeng G6 stand out? Is it the advanced autonomous driving capabilities that have become synonymous with the brand, or perhaps the seamless integration of luxury and sustainability? From its sleek exterior lines to the intelligence woven into its driving experience, the G6 seems to promise something exceptional.

In this review, we’ll explore how XPeng’s latest creation stacks up against the growing competition—and whether it’s ready to lead the charge into the future of electric mobility.

Exterior

The XPeng G6 greets you with a front design that’s both futuristic and minimalist. The smooth bonnet seamlessly blends into the bumper, giving the car a unified and aerodynamic appearance. Adding to this cohesive design are the LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), which exude a sharp and modern look, while the LED headlights below them complete a high-tech front fascia.

Move to the side, and the G6’s profile is all about flow. Its coupe-inspired silhouette isn’t just for show—it’s a design choice that enhances aerodynamics, ensuring the vehicle easily slices through the air. The flush door handles and clean body lines add to the car’s sleek and uncluttered appearance.

But what truly grabs attention are the 20-inch alloy wheels. Paired with properly sized tires, these wheels balance elegance and performance, making the G6 look equally at home in a driveway or speeding down the highway.

At the rear, XPeng continues its theme of symmetry. A continuous LED light bar mirrors the sharpness of the front DRLs, creating a cohesive lighting signature. The integrated spoiler atop the rear windshield boosts aerodynamics and adds a sporty flair to the design. And let’s not forget the smoothness at the bottom rear, making the entire design feel intentionally crafted from every angle.

Have you watched Robocop? If someone asked me to draw the car, Robocop would drive his kids to school, and this would be it. With its futuristic design, bold proportions, and a focus on blending technology with style, the XPeng G6 feels like it’s straight out of a sci-fi blockbuster.

Interior

The interior of the XPeng G6 is a mix of high-tech features and thoughtful design, but it doesn’t aim to overwhelm you with extravagance. You’ll first notice the 15-inch central touchscreen running the XOS operating system. It’s responsive and functional, handling most of the car’s features, though the interface might take some time for first-timers. A 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster also does the job well, keeping essential driving data in clear view.

The front seats offer heating and ventilation, which is a definite plus, but the rear seats only get heating. This might feel like a limitation for passengers in warmer climates. Additionally, the driver’s seat comes with electric adjustment, including a memory and welcome function, though it lacks lumbar support, which could affect comfort on longer drives.

The steering wheel features a two-spoke design that’s somewhat unconventional but adds a bit of flair. The heating function is a welcome addition, especially in colder weather. Practicality hasn’t been forgotten, with two 50-watt wireless phone chargers conveniently placed for both driver and passenger.

The panoramic glass roof is a standout feature, providing a bright and airy atmosphere inside the cabin. It offers UV and heat protection, which helps keep the interior comfortable, even during sunny days.

In terms of space, the flat rear floor ensures more legroom for passengers, and the 571-liter trunk is spacious enough for most needs, with additional compartments for smaller items. However, the lack of a glovebox is an odd omission, though it doesn’t drastically impact the overall usability of the cabin.

The design of the interior leans towards minimalism but manages to be practical. While it might not scream luxury, it’s a well-thought-out space that caters to modern EV buyers who value functionality and technology over flashiness.

Performance

The XPeng G6 isn’t just another EV in the growing market of electric SUVs—it’s a standout in terms of both design and performance. Built on the SEPA 2.0 platform, this vehicle offers a unique foundation that supports various car types, from sedans to pick-up trucks. The G6 is the first model to showcase this platform, which is versatile enough to handle wheelbases ranging from 1800 mm to 3200 mm. This design choice ensures that the G6 is adaptable, robust, and future-proof regarding the platform’s scalability.

Available in three versions—RWD Standard Range, RWD Long Range, and AWD Performance—the G6 covers all bases, with the RWD Standard Range version currently introduced in Nepal. This variety allows potential buyers to choose based on their specific range and performance needs, from those looking for more modest power to those who want the best performance XPeng can offer.

Under the hood, the XPeng G6 boasts a 190 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), which delivers 258 PS of power and 440 Nm of torque. This motor propels the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds, which is quite impressive for an SUV of this size. The car’s 50:50 weight distribution ensures excellent balance, contributing to a smooth and stable ride, particularly during high-speed driving or cornering.

When it comes to the battery, the G6 doesn’t disappoint. Powered by a 66 kWh LFP battery, it provides an impressive range of up to 435 km on a full charge, making it more than capable of long road trips and daily commuting. The G6 supports 800V super-fast charging, a first in China… in China, not Nepal.

Here with DC fast charging, the vehicle can charge from 30% to 80% in just about 30 minutes, allowing drivers to return to the road quickly. For home charging, the 7.2 kW AC charger will fully charge the car in approximately 10 hours, ensuring that overnight charging is sufficient for the average daily commute.

Performance aside, the G6 is equally focused on safety, which is always a top priority for EVs. It comes with 9-dimensional battery safety, a robust protection system for the high-voltage battery, and XPeng’s 2.5 ADAS system. This includes semi-autonomous cruise control, collision prevention, lane centering, lane change, and lane departure assistance, offering a smooth, hands-off driving experience on highways and in traffic.

Equipped with 12 HD cameras, and 17 radar sensors, the G6 provides a comprehensive safety net, which is further backed by a 5-star European NCAP safety rating. This makes it one of the safest choices in its class. Handling is another area where the G6 shines. With its aluminum die-cast body, which offers high torsional rigidity, the G6 benefits from reduced vibration, improved suspension performance, and enhanced safety during aggressive driving.

The Front Double Wishbone and Rear Multi-Link suspension setups and all-4 disc brakes ensure the ride is comfortable and well-controlled, even on more challenging terrain. With 175 mm of ground clearance, it can handle rougher roads while maintaining the stability and smoothness you expect from an SUV without the off-roading bit.

The G6 combines power, safety, and practicality, packaged in an elegant and modern design. Whether you’re in it for the performance, the range, or the cutting-edge technology, the XPeng G6 offers a well-rounded, thoughtful approach to modern electric SUVs.

Verdict

With the G6, XPeng has successfully redefined what it means to drive an SUV. By blending luxury, performance, and cutting-edge technology, this vehicle offers a comprehensive package that caters to those who want more than just an ordinary driving experience. Whether it’s the sleek design, the high-end interior, or the impressive range and charging capabilities, the G6 stands as a formidable competitor in its class.

What makes the XPeng G6 even more compelling is the price tag. Considering its impressive features, it offers incredible value at Rs. 84.99 Lakh. For a price that’s much lower than many premium electric or ICE SUVs, you get a car that looks handsome, feels plush, drives smoothly, and provides great practicality for everyday use. With the powerful motor, advanced safety tech, and range that competes with high-end models, it’s hard to ignore the value on offer here.
